Hamilton Herald![]() A Wonderful Place to Live ...
If you already live in Hamilton County, you know why I love it here! Quiet, safe neighborhoods, country settings, friendly faces, old oak trees, close to everything....
For recreation, we have Conner Prairie in the middle of the county, featuring historic Indiana 'the way life used to be'. A host to many activities all year round including many shows at Symphony on the Prairie. Throughout the county there are magnificent golf clubs and golf communities like: Prairie View Golf Club and Crooked Stick in Carmel, Hanging Tree and Pebble Brook in Noblesville, and Ironwood and Saddlebrook in Fishers, just to name a few.
There are areas around the county to boat, swim and fish like at beautiful Morse Reservoir and Geist Reservoir.
Some of my favorite spots are in Fishers (hosting Fishers Freedom Festival and the Fishers Community Park off 116th), in Carmel (be sure to eat at the Library Restaurant or take the whole family to Illusions) and Noblesville (Check out the schedule of events at the Verizon Music Center formerly Deer Creek). And you can't beat the conveniences to major shopping malls: On the north side of Indianapolis are Castleton Square and Keystone at the Crossing, and downtown Indianapolis is Circle Center Mall. Don't forget the outlet mall ' Just 30 minutes south is the outlet mall in Edinburgh. If you are a sports fan, the Indianapolis metropolitan area supports a wide array of professional franchises in both major and minor leagues. All play in excellent venues within the city. Indianapolis is so proud to call their NFL team, Super Bowl Champions!! Our Indianapolis Colts are respected on and off the field. The Indianapolis Colts have called Indianapolis home since 1984, when they moved here from Baltimore. The Colts QB, Peyton Manning has set the record for the most completed passes for touchdowns in a single season (49) in the year 2005-2006. Other outstanding Colts players include Marvin Harrison, Jeff Saturday, David Thorton, Dwight Freeney, and Dallas Clark. This is just to name a few ... GO COLTS! WE BELIEVE! The Indiana Pacers won 3 ABA championship titles prior to entering the NBA in 1976. The Pacers played at Market Square arena for 25 years and in 1999 have a new home in Conseco Fieldhouse. Indianapolis is always proud of our veteran Reggie Miller who was known for "bringing down the house" with his dynamic athletic ability. The Indianapolis Indians have won many championships in their 110-plus years of competing in several minor league baseball associations. Since 1996 they have played in Victory Field, considered by many as "the best minor league ballpark in the country." It must be said that Indianapolis is synonymous with auto racing. For the last 90 years the famous 500 was the top event in motor sports. In 1996 the "good 'ol boys" from NASCAR started racing in their circuits largest-attendance (and biggest payday) event, the "Brickyard 400." In 2000, the prestigious SAP United States Grand Prix returned to a permanent home in the U.S., the newly configured Formula One course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
